Forty years ago this last Sunday my parents were married in a chapel in Reno at the ripe old ages of 16 and 19. After they got back from their honeymoon, they had $30 and half a beef to their name. Times were hard, but they stuck together and now 40 years later they are still going strong! The odds probably weren't in their favor then, but I know it's inspiring for me to see two people who have stayed together and have had a successful marriage for that many years--it's also a blessing to be their daughter and to have grown up in such a loving home.
Rather than a ruby, our anniversary gift to them was a weekend at the Coeur d'Alene resort, complete with golf. Of course, you know you've been married for 40 years when the first question out of your mouth when your daughter calls to see how you like the room is "when can we see Anna?" Still, they had a great time at the resort, and both even parred the floating green!
Congratulations Mom and Dad on your Ruby anniversary! Here's to many many more years to come.

Woo woo! Happy 40th! The weather was great, the hotel was nice, and you get to see Anna. What more can you ask for (okay, well, Mandy and Tim are pretty nice too) ;o)
Wow! 40 years is amazing! And the still look the same as the last time I saw them. If only we could all be so lucky.
Dear Tim, Mandy and Anna,
The blog entry was such a nice thing to do. You guys are just so special to us. We are the lucky ones to have such wonderful kids. Believe me, we thank the Lord everyday that we are blessed with such a wonderful family.
Your anniversary gift was just over the top for us. Never in our wildest dreams did we ever imagine that we would golf the Resort much less stay there for two nights. You have no idea what a special gift it was. We made so many memories that Dad shares with everyone he sees. It would not surprise me if he stops people on the street to tell them about parring the floating green. Again, thanks from the bottom of our hearts.
And you are right, we could hardly wait to see Anna. That made our day!
We love you guys,
Mom and Dad
