Three Months!

Happy 3 Month Birthday, Anna Olivia!

It's hard to believe that just 3 months ago I was roughly the size and dimension of a Toyota Prius (now I'm more like a Ford Focus) and you were born at a not so small 8 lb 10 oz! And look how far we've come since then!

* You now weigh about 14 pounds (!) and measure about 23".

* You are sleeping through the night! You go to bed around 10:30, Mommy wakes you up at 7 to eat and then you go back to bed for that early morning nap...it's tough being pint sized.

* You are a very alert and happy baby. The only time you cry is when you're hungry or when that diaper has gone a bit too long without being changed. You're especially alert when other people are around...you love to stare and stare in fascination (hopefully not fascinated horror).

* You're still eating about 8 times a day, averaging about 3 oz per feeding. You are bottle fed the breast milk two days a week when Grandma and Grandpa or Dad have babysitting duty. You spent your first day all by yourself with Daddy last Friday and got him trained up good. ;o)

* You love being held and to cuddle...with just about anyone. ;o) You go through spurts with the swing...sometimes it is your best friend, sometimes it's just a baby rollercoaster gone wrong.

* This past couple of weeks you have really started "talking"! Lots of cooing and verbal response when we talk to you, and last week you laughed for the first time. You seem to find it funny when Mom and Dad make funny faces and zerbert your tummy (for those of you who don't know what a zerbert is, ask Bill Cosby). You also love to to play with the puppies and touch their fur.

As for those milestones:

- You are starting to work on those teeth, which makes you drool and a bit grumpy sometimes. Because of this, your fingers have definitely found your mouth.

- You raise your head and chest when lying on your tummy...and Daddy's.

- You're starting to get the hang of those hands, especially that grip. Too bad you practice on Mommy's hair, but you make a great Guitar Hero!

- You push down your legs when your feet are placed on a firm surface...or any surface. You seem to like to wiggle your tush and dance and you can hold that head up high.

- You can follow moving objects (like Mommy when she walks around the room...especially when it's almost time to eat) and you loooove your mobile.

Take that, American Academy of Pediatrics!

Every day, your smile makes my day, no matter how stressed I am. I never would have guessed that being a mom could be so fun and so rewarding. It's my privilege to watch you change and grow...just don't do it too fast.

She can sing in our band any day. Maybe she'll be able to add drums to her repertoire in a few months. Happy 3rd (month) birthday, Anna! Hard to believe it's been 3 months already, which brings her grand total to a whole year!

Anna, you are SO big! How did that happen so fast? I feel that way with Sam every day and have to echo your mom's feelings: I never expected motherhood to be so fun or rewarding.
