Wine Divine

This last weekend we took an impromptu trip down to Waha to visit Grammy and Poppy and also to take in the Nez Perce County Fair. Being that the other half of the grand parental units were in Australia, we entered some goodies in the fair on their behalf...homemade wine. A few years back, with retirement in sight, Tim's dad picked up the sometimes time consuming hobby of wine making. Being the meticulous engineer that he is (his wine journals would surely rival those of Robert Mondavi), he has turned out some pretty tasty brews...and a few that were less than tasty we admit, but for the most part they have been delicious. He has even attempted champagne, which we assume would have been delicious as well...though unfortunately we'll never know as it exploded upon opening and shot a bubbly geiser halfway up the mountain. Even better, his wines tend to have a higher than average alcohol content, so they pack a punch. ;o)

Apparently a panel of objective judges agreed with us--his wines won three ribbons! I suppose it's possible that the influence of the higher than average alcohol content may have tipped their favor, but we agree that he has a knack for the hobby and are glad to donate our empty bottles to the cause.
