Anna attended her first race over the weekend--the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure was in town and since Anna is all for "Saving the Boobs" (a phrase borrowed from some of the event T-shirts), she was excited to participate. We had decided to do the 1 mile course, thinking that we may not make it through the 5K before she really got interested in the cause (it being time to eat). But, it was such a beautiful day on the lake and we finished the 1 mile so quickly we decided to walk a little more...and between walking loops around the lake and jumping back on part of the course, we ended up walking about 5K anyway. :P It was a good time for all with Qdoba to follow and the hope that Anna and all her generation will see the end of the race for the cure.

If babies ran the world, I'm sure there would be a cure for breast cancer already...Sam's all for saving the boobs too.
By the time Bloomsday rolls around, she'll be a pro, competing with the Kenyan babies.
My grandmother had breast cancer and I really do hope it's not an issue for Anna's generation (or ours, for that matter, but it might be too late there :p). Not to turn this into a boob awareness campaign, but hopefully by participating we can encourage our kids to both think about other people and improve their own lifestyles - saving the boobs is more than just buying pink bracelets. ;o)
