We took off on Saturday, Mom with fears of sad baby eyes and tears. I should have known better. Grammy and Poppy Wells came for the weekend to babysit, and Anna was so excited to see them, I don't think she even noticed when we left without her (and in fact, only tolerated a minimal amount of goodbye hugs and kisses before demanding to go back to Grammy). Such is the way of spoiled grandchildren.
Saturday night we walked down to the pier and had an amazing dinner at Anthony's (despite the waiter jokingly asking if he could possibly bring us any *more* food, after we ordered 3 entrees...in our defense, one of them was actually an appetizer that we split...the king crab was fresh ;o). Sunday we walked down to Pike's and introduced Tim to all the goodies of the public market, caught some lunch, hit Trader Joe's (omg) and then went to the game.

It was an awesome game. We got to see everything you could ask for: nice footwork, goals on both sides, penalty kicks...David Beckham's glutes. Even better, I personally got everything I was rooting for: Real Salt Lake won, Donovan--my least favorite player--shot for the moon with his penalty kick (decidedly nowhere near the goal), and Beckham, for once, looked like a gentleman when he made the losing team come back for the MLS Cup trophy ceremony. Thankfully, despite the dire reports from the weather people, we didn't get rain...just rather frigid temperatures that made the extortionist selling hot cocoa in the stands for 4 bucks a pop look like a philanthropist.
Overall, a great weekend. We packed our luggage full of all of our Trader Joe's goodies (literally, this is the only reason we brought a bag to check...so we could haul back their awesome dressing and two buck Chuck). When we got back, Anna was happy to see us...but even happier with the Seattle Sounders bear we brought back for her, which is now sleeping in her crib with her. Even better, we got to remember what it was like to be DINKs for a weekend--which was enough to last us for a while...we were happy to return to Club Anna.

Looks like a great time was had by all, including the wee one! I'm so glad you guys got the chance to be out and about for some couple time and Eric will definitely be happy to hear it was involving football, the proper kind. There are definitely days where I would give my right arm for bottles of Two Buck Chuck, soap and coffee from Joe's. These days, getting a shower, having caffeine and relaxing with a wine glass at night seem much more extraordinary than pre-two.
I hope to see Beckham bend it more in the future.
