I'm so far behind on blog posts this month that I decided to just do a snapshots post for the entire month of October.

We kicked off our fun weekend activities of the month with a trip to the Green Bluff, WA area to pick out pumpkins, eat kettle corn, and watch people shoot corn from a canon (you'd be amazed how far those ears can fly!). Apparently, we are pumpkin snobs, so it took us a while to choose them, but eventually we found the ones that were juuuuuuuust right and loaded them up in the Burley. Good thing it's rated for 200 lbs, because we had about 100 lbs of pumpkin in there. (We tried for 100 lbs of pumpkin plus one baby, but she wasn't having it.) Later on, we finally got them carved (just before Tim's melted into oblivion), as evidenced by their glowing little "faces" in the picture. Next year, Mom is choosing a pumpkin that doesn't have walls that are 3 inches thick...my shoulder was sore for a week!
On Halloween weekend, we had unexpectedly beautiful weather *and* Grammy and Poppy Wells came to visit. Talk about making a little butterfly baby's day! Mom's work had a Star Wars themed Halloween, so she went as Queen Amidala, and Dad was Dr. Shots with a cure for whatever ails ya. We walked around downtown Coeur d'Alene by the lake on Saturday, then Anna helped us answer the door and hand out candy to all the little ghouls and goblins that came to visit! So many different faces!

One of our favorite tricksie treaters by far was a little boy of 6 or 7 who was just old enough to not be afraid of all of the costumes, but still young enough to believe that all those amazing characters from movies and shows do actually exist (this has been noted for future reference as the perfect age to drag our kiddo to Disney Land...it would all be so real!). When I answered the door as Queen Amidala, the following conversation took place:
Queen Amandala (to awestruck small child): "Happy Halloween!"
Little Johnny: (Gasps) "You're the queen!"
Queen Amandala: "Yes! Would you like some candy?"
(Little Johnny holds out bag with mouth still hanging open. At this point Little Johnny's mom pipes in with "Come on dear, let's go to the next house........")
Little Johnny: "But Mom, that's the QUEEN!"
Little Johnny's Mom finally drug him off the porch and to the next house, much to our amusement. Even better, we had enough tricksie treaters to use up ALL our candy so none of us were "forced" to eat it all the next day...darn.

I love that there are no boys at all in the pumpkin selection shot. :p
