Beach Bloggin'

We're back from our trip to the Washington coast--a whole week! This was the first real vacation we'd taken in about 2 years (I'm not counting maternity leave as a vacation :P), and despite a few hiccups at the beginning (an Anna meltdown on the way there, raccoons in the dog food at night, the microwave in RV died, we had a leak in the hot water tank, etc.) we got everything fixed and had a great vacation anyway. The weather was gorgeous at the coast, and stayed between 60 and 70 the entire time...coming back to 90+ was less than thrilling, and there was much talk of mutiny and permanent relocation. ;o)

Anna enjoyed the beach as well, and crawled all over in the sand...ate sand...ate seashells...and anything else she could get her little paws on. She was mostly interested in her sand bucket and shovels and all the detritus that had washed up on the beach.

We also went clamming, which was an interesting experience with Anna riding in the moby and alternately laughing at the squishy mud and whacking me on the head (the beach is way too soft/muddy to take a stroller on), crabbing (Anna wanted to hold the crabs), golfing and beachcombing...but mostly we just relaxed. Relaxing was a strange concept for us at first, but eventually we stopped trying to relax and just did. Aaaaaaaaaah.

Like an idiot, I didn't have my camera with me most of the time, but I did get to try out my birthday present...an HD camcorder. I'll post more still pictures once I manage to steal them off of grammy's camera, but for now I will leave you with this "Chariots of Fire" moment, filmed on Anna's first trip to the beach (that's her in the Burley).

(Note: the video quality and size has been reduced in order to speed up the upload, so you'll just have to take my word for it that it's HD ;o)

Our "mush" dogs pulled her most of the way down the beach...and it was all fun and games until they got tired and started going different directions. :P Sorry for the hysterical laughter coming from the film crew...two cocker spaniels being chased by a Burley (thinking "why the heck is this thing following me??!") is not a sight to be missed, especially when Cinderella started to get tired of how erratically her pumpkin carriage was being pulled.
